The times are a changing?
Posted by: | CommentsI read another story about some youths who sexually assaulted a 13year old girl and have been sentenced. I am as I’m sure you are hearing of more and more serious crimes by youth. Now to be honest I’m not sure whether there are more of these types of crimes or we are just hearing about them more but I still find it mind blowing.
Why? Probably because all I can think of is how to kids of about 15-16 get it in their heads that this kind of behaviour is acceptable. I also wonder where society has failed in the education of these kids. Is it the exposure they have to things on the net? Is it that sexual desires and sexuality have become so open and accepted that kids think it’s ok to do whatever they want. What is even more scary is that they really don’t seem to have any remorse. How can you not know that doing this is wrong.
I started this post yesterday and since then just by coincidence I was talking with a friend today who recounted similar things happening locally. Whenever I see a composite that the police put up of a serial offender these days they look 15, whether they are or not. I’m wondering if porn has something to do with it. Oh, who the hell knows. I just find it disturbing that this is going on. I think society should take some responsibility for this stuff. I know I think what can we do to fix this.
I want to write about another topic I was talking about today by chance but I’ll post seperately.

What!!! I’m Delicate & Fragile
Posted by: | CommentsIf you ask people I come into contact every day they will probably describe me as being strong and always able to deal with emergencies etc etc. I however also get terms like stoic. I’m not sure if I like that but that’s the way it is. Generally I am viewed as being someone who doesn’t get caught up in excuses and emotions and just likes to get the job done.
The problem with that is people seem surprised if I melt down. It doesn’t happen often in the public sense but I can tell you it does occur lol. I may have this way of dealing with things that may make me appear stoic or whatever the word is but I am probably more fragile than anyone would expect in reality.
Seriously do people think I don’t have meltdowns or have difficult times like everyone else. One friend said it to me perfectly one day. He said “You are more delicate than most particularly when it comes to situations you have a personal connection to, but in a work situation you can be straight down the line”.
That’s it really, I am not a different person at work but work only gets to see one side to me. They don’t get to see that like everyone else I am as fragile as the next. I guess it’s true that I am easily affected by things that go wrong in my personal life. I am the kind of person who finds it really difficult when there are problems in my relationship, in fact to the point where I struggle to deal with anything else. I cope just enough to hide it to the untrained eye or ear, but I fall apart when things are not good.
I am very much a private person as well and this blog is as public as I get and even then anything really really personal is only mentioned to the Inner Circle. But if the outside world want to think I’m tough and stoic than that’s ok by me. Why? Because the people that really matter know the real me.
In the News
Posted by: | CommentsI know that from reading my posts you may think I have it in for Myspace, Facebook and other Social Networking sites. This is not really the case. I just believe awareness of the negative aspects of there use is important as much as the positive. I saw an article today which included this paragraph.
“My fear is that these technologies are infantilising the brain into the state of small children who are attracted by buzzing noises and bright lights, who have a small attention span and who live for the moment.”
