Schoolies

Ok, well I have to have a say about this. Every year schoolies is held on the Gold Coast, I guess it’s similar to spring break in the U.S. The main difference is it’s a one week event and targeted at those who have finished school this year.
Now there have been a lot of news reports complaining that this year was the worst with tons of arrests by police and one person complained it was just an organised event for binge drinking.
Who are all you idiots kidding. You turn a location into an event for school leavers. You allow pretty much anyone over 15 to go but have exclusive areas for drinkers so I guess that’s those over 18.
Well lets think about this for a minute. Thousands of 15-20 year olds in one location with alcohol and lots of sex. Let’s repeat thousands of 15-20 year olds with alcohol. So what do you expect? Think about it.

The Answer

I so wish I had the answers. But one of the things I have noticed of late is the amount of pain people go through with broken hearts. In particular when betrayal is part of the equation.
It reminds me of the quote, “Life is simple, but it’s not easy”.
But Love was never meant to be easy lol. One of the things I find fascinating is that in the six months since I went through my own broken heart (and if I’m honest I’d admit I’m still hurting), I have had about a dozen serious date opportunities. That’s not including the countless bullshit requests I’ve received. Now to begin with, I’m very picky about the kind of people I date, mainly because I don’t date for the sake of it. If I’m going to date someone it’s because I see potential relationship. Out of the dozen or so serious date requests a little investigating revealed that most were not date requests but rather people interested in playing with my mind just to get sex. What I noticed is that they like to play the relationship card and play sweet and nice but it’s all an elaborate game. I mean it’s not difficult to see through but it makes you wonder why bother.
Seriously, why not be up front about what it is you are looking for. At least this doesn’t lead to anyone being hurt. What’s worse is when you choose to be with someone for the long term and then inflict pain down the track. This post wasn’t about me but general human behavior but it’s reminded me of a post written by someone recently so I’ll talk about me more in the next post. For now I am overwhelmed by the number of people I am coming into contact with who have been put through this pain. Just open FB on any given day and just see it.
Treat people with respect, don’t hurt them, communicate and be honest about how you feel. It may not be easy but it is simple.

To Gleek or not to Gleek
Posted by: | CommentsThere is a mixed reaction when you mention the Fox show Glee. Well for those critics out there let me tell you my story. It’s only just considering I love the show.
But why do I love it so? Simple. It makes me feel good. There are so many shows out there I love but none of them makes me feel as good as Glee. People can say it’s a bad show which is something I have heard but I don’t care. I think it’s awesome.
The show’s musical numbers are incredible. I mean in Episode 10 there was this one:

as well as an amazing rendition of True Colors which I’m sure you will find in a search.
This show is full of talented singers and dancers. There is no doubt in my mind that the best vocals are from Artie (Kevin McHale) who just has an incredible voice. As far as the best dancer, well that award would have to go to Mike (Harry Shum Jr) who not only has the best moves but is really cute lol.
If you’ve avoided this show, give it a go. There is a lot of real talent in this show and it is so worth a view.

Talk time…mmm

It’s recently been brought to my attention that I have been neglecting my blog a little. It isn’t on purpose that’s for sure. I’ve been busy and at night during the week I’ve been either busy or tired. I miss my more regular posts and am determined to write more, even if I give my WP App a go when I’m on the move.
It’s amazing how things have changed over the last few months. In some ways I’ve had to take it slowly because I’ve met so many new people and so many good people. Don’t misunderstand, I’m not at a really content point just yet but without a doubt I’m well on the way. However just a few challenges to get through which I will discuss when I am feeling a little more clear.
I will discuss the romantic interests in my life at a later time but I thought I would just mention friends at this point. surprisingly to me some friends over the past few months have drifted away, I’m not sure why and it’s quite sad but I do hope that they will reconnect at sometime in the future. However I have also been blessed to have made some new friends. I am very picky about who I allow into my life in every respect which is why when I do meet people who are like that I really can’t express the gratitude that I feel to the universe.
You know I have had one person from my deep dark pass re-enter my life albeit in a small way who came back into the fold (lol) after the horrible episode of my ex and I am so amazingly grateful that I don’t think he will ever know how much it meant. I have also been fortunate enough to have had by life blessed with someone who really knows how to make me feel good. Not in a superficial, tell me what I want to hear kind of way, but someone who genuinely is a good guy. Who has a deep heart and is always available for hugs lol. Someone who tells me what he thinks and doesn’t shy away from a argument which is rare.
I do feel blessed that the universe has looked after me so amazingly well and will enlarge on this and the other relationships in my life in the future.
I will get back to my occasional rants about things and will also do a less serious post about a TV series. So stay tuned.

Weekend Update

Well this weekend was really busy but Saturday started with a visit to the opening of the Brisbane Apple store. I really could have just spend all day in there. To be honest I could have just moved in, I’m such a geek lol.
While there we decided to watch a film, so before that we decided to eat. Finding a nice little Japanese place we had a late lunch and for a shopping centre food establishment I have to say the food was great.
Anyway, off to the movies to watch 2012. Now what did I really think of this film. Well other than it going for a long time it wasn’t too bad. I did enjoy it even though it was a typical American blockbuster. I enjoyed it because I didn’t have to think. I also went in expecting a typical blockbuster so wasn’t disappointed. It would seem that there were moments that were a little overdone and it was a bit disappointing to not have Australia mentioned at all but it was a good mindless film worth seeing.
With a big week ahead I decided to come home early and got home about 1am. So today I went to the office and caught up on a few things that will help the week go a little more easily, washed and vacuumed the car and relaxed. Anyway, now I’m off to do some reading and will be back soon with a story from something that happened today.
